Nineteen high school teams – including one from Council Grove, two from White City, two from Madison High, five from Northern Heights, three from Olpe, four from Mission Valley, and one team each from Blue Valley and Chase County – are entered in the Regional Envirothon on April 6th at White Memorial Camp.

The seventh annual Envirothon is hosted by the Morris County Conservation District.  The presentation and questions phase of the competition will start at 9 a.m. with the teams rotating through 20-minute sessions on Soils/Land Use, Forestry, Wildlife, Rangeland, and Aquatics/Ecology.

After lunch, the participants will go through 25-minute testing rounds from 12:00-2:25 p.m., on the five subjects.  Team winners and test results will be announced after the final scores have been posted, at approximately 2:45 p.m.

The top teams from each school will qualify for the Kansas Envirothon April 27, at Camp Wood in Elmdale.  The North America (NCF) Envirothon is scheduled July 24-29th at Peterborough, Ontario.

The 2016 Current Issue is “Invasive Species – A Challenge to the Environment, Economy & Society” where all teams are required to compete in oral presentations at the Kansas Envirothon competition. The oral presentation will be for 10 minutes with a total of 100 points possible. All team members are required to participate in the presentation.
